AIDA GARIFULLINA AT THE MIKHAILOVSKY THEATRE
On June 15, Aida Garifullina will perform a solo concert at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. The talented soprano's long-awaited performance promises to be one of the summer's highlights.
A graduate of the Nuremberg University of Music and the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, Aida Garifullina first came to the spotlight after her dazzling debut as Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with the Mariinsky Theatre, which she joined in 2013 at the invitation of Valery Gergiev.
This was followed by the roles of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto, Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Natasha Rostova in Prokofiev's War and Peace, and the Queen of Shamakhan in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Golden Cockerel. International recognition was swift: after winning the Operalia competition in 2013, she signed a recording contract with Decca and was invited to the Vienna State Opera.
Aida Garifullina is a regular guest soloist at the world's leading opera houses, including the Bolshoi Theatre, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, the Opéra National de Paris, the Vienna State Opera, and many others. The singer regularly performs at the prestigious Salzburg Festival and the Arena di Verona Festival, collaborating with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Plácido Domingo, Gustavo Dudamel, Antonio Pappano, and Daniel Barenboim.
Critics have praised the singer's unique timbre, impeccable technique, and profoundly dramatic performance. The evening's program will include famous arias from operas across the world repertoire, from Italian bel canto to Russian classics.
