KONSTANTIN AND VLADIMIR MAKOVSKY: TWO POLES OF ART
The exhibition "Konstantin and Vladimir Makovsky. Earthly and Heavenly Love" is open at the Fabergé Museum until September 13. It presents the legacy of two brothers from a renowned creative dynasty in the form of an artistic dialogue.
The exhibition's main intrigue lies in the distinctive creative style of each brother: the distinctive artistic expressions of Konstantin and Vladimir create a striking contrast, evoking both impressions and meanings.
The exhibition is extensive: the halls of the Fabergé Museum contain 168 works, representing the legacy of the brothers approximately equally: 81 by Konstantin Yegorovich and 87 by Vladimir Yegorovich. The project was inspired by a significant anniversary — the 180th birthday of Vladimir Makovsky. A total of three dozen state museums and private galleries from Kaliningrad to Khabarovsk have loaned works. In addition, nine Makovsky paintings from the collection of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be on display for the first time to contemporary Russian audiences. The exhibition's focal point is the enormous canvas "The Judgment of Paris" from the Fabergé Museum collection, painted for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris.
