PIANISSIMO FESTIVAL
The new season of the international music festival Pianissimo begins on June 28 in Peterhof and June 29 in St. Petersburg. The project focuses on emerging names of promising and talented musicians who are currently shaping the future of global music culture.
The festival concerts will feature young pianists from Russia, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, South Korea, and Argentina. Performances will take place at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the GES-2 Community Center in Moscow, the Strelka Warehouse in Nizhny Novgorod, the Grand Palace in Peterhof, and the Tretyakov Gallery branch in Kaliningrad.
Over its nine-year history, Pianissimo has transformed from a concert series into a conceptual project, at the heart of which is a vision of the future of the global piano scene. The festival's chamber concerts are united by a common philosophy, the participants' desire to search for a contemporary artistic language, and the unique interpretation of the works they perform.
Musical works and their gifted performers engage in a multifaceted creative dialogue with the location and history—the architecture and cultural codes of the cities. Music becomes a link between cultures, eras, and generations. This is why the location is so important for Pianissimo concerts: each is symbolic — palace and museum halls, architectural monuments, chamber theaters, contemporary art spaces, and cultural centers. Each concert is designed to demonstrate and explore the idea of synthesizing mastery, heritage, and reflection on the present day.
